Extron adds managed USB extension and matrix switching over Gigabit Ethernet

USB Extender xi Series

Extron announced the USB Extender xi Series for extending and switching USB peripherals between hosts. The system supports point-to-point extension up to 100 metres over one CATx cable or distributed USB matrix switching up to 600 metres through a Gigabit Ethernet network, with centralized configuration and control.

Why it matters

The series turns USB transport into managed room and campus infrastructure rather than a single fixed cable path. Integrators should validate USB device classes, network design, switching latency, security segmentation and the distinction between the 100-metre point-to-point and 600-metre networked topologies before specifying it.

Relevant to enterprise and government meeting rooms, courtrooms, classrooms and command spaces that need centrally managed long-distance access to cameras, audio interfaces, touch devices or other USB peripherals

Extron begins shipping bidirectional 12G-SDI and HDMI scaling models

DSC 12G-HD A / DSC HD-12G A

Extron confirmed immediate availability of two 4K/60 scalers: DSC 12G-HD A converts multi-rate SDI to HDMI, while DSC HD-12G A converts HDMI to multi-rate SDI. Both include audio embedding and de-embedding, seamless transitions, EDID tools and compact half-rack enclosures.

Why it matters

These are specialized infrastructure products rather than general meeting-room endpoints. They matter where enterprise AV, broadcast and event-production workflows must bridge HDMI and 12G-SDI without adding separate conversion and scaling stages.

Relevant to complex enterprise, government, broadcast and event spaces using mixed SDI and HDMI signal paths

Extron extends USB-C video, data and power over one CAT 6A link

DTP3 T 321

Extron announced a 4K/60 USB-C DTP3 transmitter carrying uncompressed video, audio, USB 10 Gbps data, power and control up to 100 metres, with 60 W native charging or 100 W using an optional inserter.

Why it matters

The product can simplify lectern and meeting-room cabling where USB peripherals and charging must travel with video. The trade-off is deeper dependence on Extron's DTP3 ecosystem; validate receiver compatibility and the cost of the optional 100 W power path.

Useful for enterprise, education and government rooms with long USB-C extension requirements
